Parent Exchange

Even though this group is titled “Parent” Exchange, it’s about your CHILD. We discuss issues about daily living skills and how you as a parent can facilitate your child’s growth. This group can assist you in making connections, establishing friendships, and learning from each other.

Parent Support

As the parent of a child with a Developmental Disability your world has been consumed by your emotions — maybe helplessness, anger, inadequacy, or even sadness. All parents need a place where they can talk gain support, lean on and commiserate with other parents.

Mom’s Brunch

This group is run by moms and meets once a month on Tuesday afternoons at 1:00 pm at the NYFAC office. Topics and locations are discussed and decided as a group.

Dad’s Night Out

The fathers meet at the NYFAC office and talk for a bit. Then we decide what to do for the evening. Always a lot of fun!

Grandparents’ Open House

Grandparents are the building blocks of any family. Here at NYFAC they are cherished and loved. Through education and support we assist grandparents to have a place where they can learn, grow and be better equipped to help their grandchildren. The group is facilitated by “seasoned” grandparents who will share their knowledge and love!

Sibling Support

Facilitated by an MSW, this gives an opportunity for siblings of children who have autism a chance to discuss their feelings on the issue. It also offers helpful tips for coping and interacting with their siblings. This group is run by “seasoned” siblings.
