HOWARD BEACH – Andrew Baumann, President & CEO of New York Families for Autistic Children (NYFAC) hosted an Assembly roundtable on Thursday, September 11.
In attendance were Assemblymembers Nily Rozic, Phil Goldfeder, David Weprin and Mike Miller. Each saw, via video, the devastation Superstorm Sandy wreaked on NYFAC’s Cross Bay Boulevard building. They also took a tour of the state-of-the-art, LEED-certified facility, and witnessed first-hand how NYFAC and its staff impacts lives.
“This is who we are, this is what we do,” said Baumann as he reviewed important legislation in the Assembly having to do with autism. “I’m in this to do whatever we can to help children, to do better for them.”
Each legislator was in agreement that they would recommit their efforts towards helping those with autism, as one in 68 births in the United States will be identified with autism spectrum disorder.
“We need to make a concerted effort to push legislation,” said Goldfeder.
