First annual 20-mile bike ride to benefit the NYFAC Foundation and JDRF
Gear up and get moving, because on Saturday, July 26 (rain date July 27), bike aficionados can participate in the first annual “Loop,” a 20-mile bike ride.
Kicking off at the NYFAC building, 164-14 Cross Bay Boulevard in Howard Beach, the route will take riders over three bridges in two boroughs and back to NYFAC. With safety a priority, there will be spotters and sign guides at every turn. And if you prefer, a “half Loop,” 10-mile course will also be available.
There is a $20 minimum sponsorship to ride and cyclists will receive a T-shirt. All riders must wear helmets and protective gear.
The day’s festivities will also include a barbecue at the end of the race.
Invited guests include Governor Andrew Cuomo, Mayor Bill de Blasio, City Council Speaker Melissa Mark Viverito, Senator Charles Schumer, State Senator Joseph Addabbo, Assemblymember Philip Goldfeder and City Councilmember Eric Ulrich.
This event is a partnership between the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) and the NYFAC Foundation.
All proceeds will benefit the NYFAC Foundation and JDRF. Register online at www.NYFAC.org/bike (pre-registration guarantees a bike shirt). On-site registration begins at 8 am. Ride starts promptly at 10 am.
