On Wednesday, August 13, NYFAC’s Day Hab participants helped stuff over 500 bags for needy students at Kings Plaza Shopping Center.
Each fall, as the school year approaches, Kings Plaza donates supplies to pupils. The mall’s representatives work with community leaders and elected officials to determine need, and then they provide the goods.
This year, NYFAC individuals prepared backpacks that included loose leaf, a notebook, a folder, pens and pencils and hand sanitizer.
“What a great bunch of workers, we loved having them here” said Sara McGuinness, Marketing Manager for Kings Plaza Shopping Center. “They were a big help in getting us to our goal of preparing 1,500 backpacks to make sure students in need start off the school year on the right foot.”
“We love that we were able to help,” said Andrew Baumann, NYFAC President & CEO. “It was a good experience for our adults with developmental disabilities – who had a blast – and we were able to give back.”
The backpacks will be distributed this weekend and next.
